The experimental design. Six electric discharge experiments were performed in two different flasks, one made of borosilicate glass, the other of Teflon. Three experiments were performed to test the effect of the borosilicate glass. One in the borosilicate reactor, one in the Teflon reactor, a third one in the Teflon reactor containing pieces of borosilicate glass. The three experiments were repeated with NH4Cl buffer at pH 8.7 and without buffer at pH ca. 11.
