From: Effect of Au substrate and coating on the lasing characteristics of GaAs nanowires

Temperature dependent laser emission spectra of (a) a GaAs NW on Au film at an excitation power of 120 mW and (c) an Au coated NW on glass substrate at a pump power of 140 mW. The redshift and weakening of the laser emission with increasing temperature is attributed to temperature-induced changes of the refractive index and the gap energy as well as a reduced material gain. The SEM images of the investigated NWs are shown in (b,d).
