Scale degrees are normalized into C Major and C minor (i.e., 1 = the tonic scale degree), # symbols represent raised degrees (e.g., #4 = = the triton), and b symbols represent lowered degrees (e.g., b2 = = lowered second). On both axes, the means never exceeded the [− 7, + 7] window presented here (the full scale ranged between – 50 and + 50).
