Schematic representation of Panx3 signaling pathway in keratinocyte differentiation. 1) ATP releasing Panx3 channel activates Akt signaling in autocrine or paracrine manner. 2) Panx3 ER Ca2+ channel opened by Akt signaling promotes calmodulin (CaM)-NFAT signaling by raising up intracellular Ca2+ levels. 3) Dephosphorylated NFATc1 (active form NFATc1) enters the nucleus and binds to the promoter regions of Epfn. Epfn then promotes Nocth1 expression.
