Representative box plots of metabolites that were significantly different between FF samples belonging to the blastocyst versus cleavage stage embryo group (p < 0.05). The y-axis reflects the scaled intensity of each metabolite in uncleaved (gray) cleavage stage (orange) and blastocysts (blue). The original data generated by the area under curve of the MS peaks was used for median-scaling, determining the minimum and maximum of data distribution, and identification of outliers. Note that with the exception of acisoga, an end product of polyamine metabolism, and the fatty acid lipid molecule, decanoylcarnitine (C10), most of the metabolites were downregulated in blastocysts compared to cleavage stage embryos.
