Change of Respiratory Minute Volume (RMV, bars) and concomitant increase of arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2, line plot). At the beginning of the study intervention, RMV was reduced by 40%. Thereafter, minor corrections were made according to blood gas analyses.
