Histologic changes after irradiation at 6 weeks. There is no gross lesion at 6 weeks. However, from the light microscopic evaluation with H&E and MT staining, compared to normal atrial myocardium near the irradiated lesion (a), irradiated atrial myocardium (b) shows diffuse vacuolization with extensive hemorrhage and inflammatory cell infiltration with dilated capillaries.
