Stylized encounter between a Hudson Bay whimbrel and Hurricane Irene on 24 August 2011. Irene was a category 2 hurricane when encountered. The bird would retreat more than 400 km and put down on North Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The bird staged on the Bahamas for 19 days before flying to Puerto Rico where it was hit by Tropical Storm Maria. The bird staged on Puerto Rico for 17 days before leaving and completing migration to South America.
