Representative immunofluorescence images of macrophages (F4/80+) in the small intestinal wall. C57BL/6 N mice underwent CASP following SID or a sham operation. (A) Aboral 1 cm of ileum was cryofixed and sections were stained for infiltrating macrophages using antibody against F4/80-antigen labelled with Alexa-647 dye and DAPI for staining of cell nuclei. Photos were taken from at least 6 mice per group. (Magnification 20x) (B) Fluorescence was assigned to the mucosal region and outer layers of muscularis and serosa (see materials and methods for detail).
