Westward spread of high level clouds: Cloud Top Height (CTH) in the month of August, averaged over the latitude band between 5° S and 15° N, from MODIS onboard (a) Terra and (b) Aqua, showing westward spread of high level clouds over north Indian Ocean. In general, CTH is higher over the eastern regions (as indicated by red color), compared to that over the western parts. Higher level clouds are observed to be spreading westward, over the years, as indicated by the black arrows.
