Hexagonal ordering is exhibited by droplets in the smectic film at certain moments of time. The droplets denoted 1, 2 and 4, 5 move in opposite directions relative to the row of droplets 3, 6, and 7. Hexagonal ordering (a) is destroyed (b) and then reconstructed after some time (c). Frame (b) is taken 55 s after frame (a), and frame (c) 40 s later. The horizontal size of the images is 191 μm.
