Asymmetry index values (Mean + / − SE) in frequency range 1–30 Hz in the first and second sleep cycle of sleep recording 1. Compared to baseline asymmetry (hypothetical zero), left hemispheric predominance was observed in the first sleep cycle of sleep recording 1 in the frequency range 1–12.75 Hz. Frequency bins below the statistical threshold (all ps < 0.05, fulfilling the criteria of a significant Rüger area) are illustrated by a red horizontal line.
