Asymmetry index values (Mean + / − SE) in frequency range 1–30 Hz in the first sleep cycles of sleep recording 1 and 2. In sleep recording 1 greater rightward asymmetry was observed in the frequency range of 1–5.25 Hz, compared to the sleep recording 2. Frequency bins below the statistical threshold (all ps < 0.05, fulfilling the criteria of a significant Rüger area) are illustrated by a black horizontal line.
