The boxplot diagram (a) illustrates the number of image patches for the different anatomical structures across all 135 eye examinations. The co-occurrence matrix of anatomical structures within one patch is displayed in (b). When two or more classes are visible in one patch their appearance is counted in the matrix. Next, the matrix is normalized to range between 0 and 1 by an intersection over union norm. Class legend: S/I superior/inferior, T/N temporal/nasal, A arcade, MAC macula, OD optic disc.
