Overall, greater pupil size is observed in the Hard condition compared to the Easy condition across all ten luminance levels. (b) To test for significance between the pupil size in the Hard and Easy conditions, the difference in pupil size was taken between the Hard and Easy condition for every observer at every luminance level. Group-averaged pupil differences across all ten luminance levels were then calculated. The shaded gray area represents the 95% confidence interval.
