Exemplary polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis of PCR products digested with HinfI restriction enzyme. The ITS1-ITS4 set of primers was used to amplify the ITS1-5.8SrDNA-ITS2 region. Profiles A–C are characteristic of Aphanoascus keratinophilus, Chrysosporium pannicola and Chrysosporium tropicum, respectively. Abbreviations above lanes (1–3) correspond to the species names assigned during traditional identification. Full-length gels are shown in Supplementary Fig. S1a,b.
