Electron density distribution created in a plasma with density of \({5 \times 10^{16}}\,{\hbox {cm}^{-3}}\) by a laser pulse with a wavelength of \({10.6}\,\upmu \hbox {m}\), normalised vector potential \(a_0=5\), pulse duration of 500 fs (FWHM) and initial waist size of (a) \({100}\,\upmu \hbox {m}\) (b) \({200}\,\upmu \hbox {m}\) and (c) \({300}\,\upmu \hbox {m}\).
