Venn diagram of common genes between previous studies as well as our study. The number in the figure refers to the count of genes. However, for the common genes between our study and previous studies, we showed the name of genes instead of their count. We found eight genes (ompC, ompA, ycgV, rarD, yfaL, lnt, entF, and fruA) in common with previous studies of positive selection in E. coli. The ompC gene, which is known to be under positive selection in bacteria, is common to all studies.
