Study area showing assembled survey effort (a), along with beaked whale (b) and sperm whale (c) sightings recorded during all surveys. Surveys were carried out along transects following a line-transect methodology (survey details are provided in Appendix A). Sightings were classified by group sizes with each point representing one group of individuals and point size representing the number of animals in a group. In the analyses, we used the number of individuals to estimate densities of individuals.
