Replication timing (RT) dynamics are not substantially different in centromeric regions than in the rest of the genome. (a, c) The distance between RT peaks was used as a metric of inter-origin distance. Inter-origin distances were slightly larger in centromeric regions (green, a) and α-satellite higher-origin repeats (blue, c), relative to the rest of the genome (gray). (b, d) RT profile slope was used as a proxy for replication fork speed. For each peak, the ascending and descending slopes are averaged. RT slopes were slightly shallower in centromeric regions (green, b) and α-satellite higher-origin repeats (blue, d), relative to the rest of the genome (gray). RT values are for the lymphoblastoid cell line GM12878.
