Chickens were kept in two rooms under special biosafety measures in the animal facility. Every three days, two animals from each box changed rooms. The continuous wall prevented direct contact between the artificially C. jejuni-infected and non-infected birds kept in one box. Green arrows mark the positions of air sampling for VOCs analysis, which occurred twice each day.
