  1. Notes: Exposure is reported on a scale of zero to 100, where 100 indicates that a given county accounts for 100 percent of the relevant fossil fuel activity (e.g., coal extraction) nationwide. Sensitivity scores are also reported on a scale of zero to 100, but differ from the exposure metrics by indicating each county’s percentile of all US counties based on the metrics for defining a “disadvantaged” community (see “Methods”). Aggregate scores are reported in two ways. The first presents the raw product of exposure times sensitivity, and the second ranks each county by percentile of all US counties with the relevant fossil fuel activity.
