Assessment of local immune responses represented by cytokine production and cellular infiltration in BCG- and BCGΔBCG1419c-vaccinated mice after infection. (a) The frequencies of neutrophils and macrophages in the lungs of each group were evaluated at 10 weeks post-infection. The experimental results of one representative experiment are presented as the mean ± SD from pooled samples (n = 4) from each group (n = 6). One-way ANOVA with post hoc Tukey’s multiple comparison test was used to evaluate the significance. ***p < 0.001, and ****p < 0.0001. (b) At 10 weeks post-infection, lung lysates from each group (n = 6) were used to quantify the levels of TNF-α, IFN-γ, and IL-10. Data are expressed as the mean ± SD from each group (n = 6).
