Silencing of Mcl-1 combined with Bcl-xL inhibition affects the viability of GSC-ECLs. Percentage of cell death (PI+ cells) was determined by flow cytometry in GSC-ECLs transfected with either NT or an Mcl-1 specific siRNA, and treated or not with WEHI-539 (1 μM) for 48 h. Each bar represents the mean ± S.E.M. of three experiments. Student's t-test was used to detect significant differences between NT-transfected cells and cells transfected with an Mcl-1 specific siRNA. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001.
