Multiple factors acting at different length scales contribute to the tensile stress–strain response of additively manufactured materials. Long-range thermal stresses and stochasticity of processing defects influence property at the macroscale. Gaussian heat distribution and microstructural heterogeneity impact mesoscopic properties at the pool level. At the microstructural level, heterogeneity in particle and eutectic segregation influences plasticity in micro-nano scales. The presented high-resolution nanoindentation map attempts to investigate properties at the pool and microstructural levels.
