The Y-axis plots the rate of rod precursor generation in arbitrary units. Precursors appear around embryonic day 13 (E13), the rate of generation peaks around the day of birth (PN0), and the process ends around postnatal day 6 (PN6). The arrowhead indicates the time of transcriptional shift in rod precursors. Arrows at PN4 and PN8 indicate the time of GFP+ rod precursors sorting for the evaluation of transcriptional changes by RNAseq analysis.
