Figure 1

Direction of Descemet break and astigmatism axis. Case1 (A–D) is a 51-year-old woman, a Descemet membrane (DM) break appears obliquely present (A: arrow heads). Case2 (E–H) is a 69-year-old man, a Descemet membrane (DM) break appears horizontal present (E: arrow heads). Case 3 (I–L) is a 67-year-old woman, a Descemet membrane (DM) break appears vertical present (I: arrow heads). The topographic elevation map shows a blue area on the anterior (B, F, J) and posterior corneal surfaces (C, G, K) in the area with the DM break (A, E, I). Those blue areas are associated with the corneal astigmatism axis (D, H, L). In the current study, the direction of the DM breaks was identical to that of the corneal astigmatism axis in 14 of 23 eyes (60.9%).
