Recruitment and clinical course. Thirteen patients participated in this study. After planned surgery, all patients underwent an evaluation of colorectal anastomosis. Six patients did not receive early stoma closure due to suspected leakage (n = 5) or paralytic ileus (n = 1). Seven of the 13 patients underwent early stoma closure.
