Counts of new introductions of SARS-CoV-2 variants into the local community and the University of Idaho during the 2020–2021 academic year identified by analysis of the UShER phylogeny, with introduction dates defined as the date that descendants of the introduction were first sampled. The top panel shows counts of all new introductions, and the bottom two panels show counts of new introductions into the Community (middle) or University (bottom). Introductions are color-coded by clade. Orange line indicates the percent positive samples over time for each recipient population. Light grey shaded region indicates a period of online-only instruction when fewer students were on campus. Double-sided arrows indicate mandatory SARS-CoV-2 testing periods for undergraduates, and University holiday breaks.
