Solid lines indicate the mean joint angle trajectories of the \(n=10\) subjects for level walking (LW), walk-to-stair transitions (TR), and stair walking (SW), plotted over a full gait cycle. Foot-off is indicated by the dotted line. Shaded regions indicate statistically significant (\(p<0.05\)) differences between stride types as determined by paired SPM t-tests. Green regions indicate differences between level walking and transition strides, while blue regions represent differences between transitions and stair walking. Areas of overlap between the blue and green regions appear darker green, and represent the areas where transition kinematics are considered unique from either steady-state task.
