Ontogenetic changes in the trophic niche breadth (Czekanowski’s Index, CI) of Octopus vulgaris paralarvae. Trophic niche breadth (CI, ranges from 0 = specialist to 1 = generalist predator) was calculated for every O. vulgaris paralarvae and colour-coded according to the number of suckers per arm (spa). Averaged values and standard deviation for the different spa groups are shown in the upper right corner.
