The central panels show the whole globe, while the left and right panels are zooms on the East Coast of USA and Europe, respectively, where the density of observations is higher. The stations with less than one year of data (and therefore preventing the computation of percentiles) are not shown. The location of the time series plotted in Fig. 4 are marked with a diamond.
