Spatial learning and memory performance in T. gondii-infected rats. (A) T. gondii increased the escape latency at 4 and 8 weeks after infection, but the infected rats found the platform on the 2nd and 3rd day with the same latency as the un-infected rats. (B,C) 24 h after the last training session probe test was done. Time spent in the target quadrant and distance to the platform were, respectively, decreased and increased in rats with an 8-week infection. No significant difference was found between un-infected rats and rats with a 4-week infection. *P < 0.05 and **P < 0.01 control vs. Toxo 8 wk, $P < 0.05 control vs. Toxo 4 wk.
