Changes in the populations of Escherichia coli O157:H7 B6-914, spot-inoculated on spinach leaves, when Escherichia phage OSYSP suspensions were applied at different concentrations and volumes. (A) Effect of phage concentrations. (B) Effect of a single and repeated bacteriophage spray (doubling the spray volume). Average log reductions were obtained from at least 3 independent treatments. Different letters on bars represent significant difference (P < 0.05). Error bar indicates ± standard error of the mean. Escherichia phage OSYSP spray was applied at 108, 109, or 2 × 109 PFU g−1 spinach.
