Time course of the percentage of single-cell images of bacteria classified into three types. Antimicrobial treatment (control, imipenem, colistin) were conducted simultaneously in parallel and the percentage of each type of bacteria to the total bacterial count was determined. Means and standard deviations of the three independent experiments are shown; type 1 of low-bright bacteria (blue), type 2 of bright bacteria (red), type 3 of bright and translucent bacteria (gray); vertical axis: percentage of bacteria (%), horizontal axis: incubation time with antimicrobials (min).
