X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the ZrO2 discs (a) in the range of 20–80° 2θ are presented. More detailed XRD patterns are also shown in the range of 27–33° 2θ (b). Compared to the XRD peaks of the ZrO2 discs before sandblasting (A), the presence of the monoclinic phase was detected after the ZrO2 discs were sandblasted (B). The monoclinic phase disappeared upon hot isostatic pressing of the sandblasted ZrO2 discs (C).
