WT and Muc4 KO eyes ex vivo exposure to LPS. WT and Muc4 KO eyes were exposed to 1 μg/ml LPS for 4 h at 37 °C. Relative gene expression of Tlr4 and Tnfa in the corneal epithelium was calculated with the 2 − ΔΔCt method, using the levels of Rpl9 expression as housekeeping and the expression in untreated-WT tissue as the calibrator.
