A 58-year-old female was successfully treated by the SRN technique. (a) and (b): The patient suffered from a severe open fracture and was acutely shortened; (c) and (d): After soft tissues healed, re-lengthening was performed via a monorail external frame; (e) and (f): When the limb length was restored the external frame was removed and an intramedullary nail was inserted; (g) and (h): Six months after removing the external frame, the consolidation of the new callus was good. SRN: shortening/re-lengthening and nailing.
