  1. The UN- and RA-SH-SY5Y cells were pretreated for 30 min with PAA-CeO (3 mM) followed by 9 h of treatment with H2O2 (0.375 and 0.5 mM for UN- and RA-SH-SY5Y, respectively). For RA-SH-SY5Y cells caspase-3 activity was also measured 18 h after H2O2 (0.5 mM) treatment. Ac-DEVD-CHO (20 μM) was used as a positive control for the assay. Data were normalized to vehicle-treated cells (control) and are presented as the mean ± SEM from 2–3 independent experiments with 2 replicates each. ***P < 0.001 versus vehicle-treated cells; ###P < 0.001 versus H2O2-treated cells. n.d.-not determined.
