Distributions of temporal change of velocity observed at GNSS stations whose data cover both earlier (1996–1999) and later (2006–2009) periods. Velocities observed at stations EISL and ISPA, and at GALA and GLPS over the two periods are considered as observed at the same site due to proximity of stations (\(<5\) km apart, see main text). Distributions are mapped as 2D histograms of the difference between ensembles of station velocities over the earlier and later periods. The latter ones are obtained from the observed mean and standard deviation of the station GNSS velocity. Blue solid/dashed lines show the regions where the most-recurrent 68/95% of the velocity-difference samples fall. Red dots show (0, 0), which would be the centre of the distribution in case of no temporal change of station velocity.
