Overexpression of STING renders susceptibility to cell death of HNSCC cells. (A) Cells were collected for Annexin V and PI staining followed by flow cytometric analysis for apoptotic cells in the JHU-029 cells without (a) or with (b) STING overexpression. (B) The populations of apoptotic cells were quantified for the JHU-029 HNSCC cells with or without STING overexpression. Data of three independent experiments are presented as mean ± SEM (n = 3; p < 0.05). (C) Total protein extracts were prepared from the HNSCC cells with or without STING overexpression. Western blot analysis was performed for PARP and cleaved PARP (cPARP) (a), Caspase-9 (b), and β-actin (c). (D) The ratio of cleaved PARP/PARP (a) and band intensities of caspase-9 (b) relative to the corresponding β-actin were quantified for comparisons. Data of four independent experiments are presented as mean ± SEM, with p values indicated.
