(A) A circumferential incision was made along the limbus of the eyeball, then the anterior segment of the eye and the lens were discarded. (B) Then, the vitreous body, retina, and RPE-Bruch’s membrane-choroid complex were removed under a dissecting microscope. The scleral shells were divided into two regions: equatorial and posterior sclera. (C) The explanted tissues were cut and then placed in dishes for cell culture.
