Control of TGM1 during keratinocyte differentiation. Keratinocytes differentiate as they move towards the skin surface. TGM1 is expressed during late differentiation and requires high calcium concentrations for catalytic activity which leads to the cross-linking of substrate proteins in the granular layer of the epidermis. The present study was designed to detect effects of molecular modifications on the in vitro activity and immunoreactivity of TGM1.
