  1. After the sucrose responsiveness assay was complete, all responding NEBs were individually frozen at – 20 °C until processing occurred. At processing, 4 (or 5) NEBs were randomly chosen from each treatment and year to confirm infection status and density via microscopy (N. ceranae, spores/bee) and qPCR (L. passim, cytb copies/bee). No significant differences in parasite density exist between treatments or across years.
