Equatorial Atlantic data are compared to deep Southern Ocean data (Sars Seamount38). Radiocarbon data are plotted as age difference between 14C sample age and contemporary atmosphere (“B-Atmosphere”). Dashed lines in (C) and (F) represent the modelled change in 14C content of seawater assuming atmospheric pCO2 is the only factor affecting 14C-reservoir age40,43.
