The rhombic supercell in the SOTI phase bears an analogy with the two dimensional SSH model. (a) Two of the edges (upper and lower) hosting an uncompensated weak bond at one end are marked. (b) The upper edge (marked) of the rhombus is shown. The dominant bonds with hopping amplitude \(t_1\) are shown by a solid line and the weak bonds are shown by dashed lines. This edge ends at a site A, which is connected via weak bonds to the rest of the system, making it a host to the localized higher order topological state.
