Schematic diagram of our hypotheses regarding the mechanisms through which ATRA alleviates RA (by Figdraw). By modulating the gut microbiota composition, ATRA inhibits Th17 cell differentiation while promoting Treg cell differentiation, thereby regulating the production of inflammatory factors. Consequently, this regulation alleviates intestinal inflammation, decreases intestinal mucosal permeability, and further ameliorates systemic inflammatory responses, ultimately resulting in the alleviation of arthritis.
