  1. aRepeated surveys typically included the same point locations; however, this was not always the case. Hence, the number of points shown here may exceed the number sampled during any one survey event. Additionally, GPS measurement error sometimes occurred across surveys on the same lake–to account for this error, we treated observations taken ≤ 10 m of each other ( the grid spacing on any lake) as being from the same point. Counts of infested points were derived by summing the numbers of points with ≥ 1 detections across all surveys.
