Experimental procedure. This study included animal and cell experiments. In vivo, rats were injected subcutaneously with BuP at 50 mg/kg bw/d for 4 weeks. After euthanasia, thyroid histology, serum levels of thyroid hormones, and thyroid autoantibodies were determined. In vitro, the human thyroid follicular cell line Nthy cells were exposed to 0 to 80 mg/L BuP and cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, and sodium iodide symporter (NIS) levels were determined.
