Susceptibility of Col-0 and Mediator mutants to infection by P. syringae. Four leaves each of 5-week-old plants were injected with either 10 mM MgCl2 (control) or 1 × 106 CFU/ml of the virulent Pst. DC3000. (A) Bacteria were extracted from 100 mg of grounded tissue from mock-treated and infected plants and colonies formed from 10 × serial dilutions (D1 to D6) at the 72-h time point are shown. (B) The box plot represents the means of CFUs of the D3 dilution from four independent infections. Asterisks indicate significant differences between each mutant and Col-0 (Student’s t test, *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001) and the error bars show mean standard deviation (SD) of four independently infected plants.
